Local business gifts new truck to longtime employee
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP - After working for Inco Beverage Inc. in Richland Township for 40 years, the company decided to honor one of its most treasured employees.
However, Greg Balamuta said he never dreamed working for the company would lead to a surprise like this.
During a special meeting with the staff, the president of the company handed Greg a small box.
What Greg thought was going to be a gold watch turned out to be a much bigger surprise.
“When I finally got it opened, I said ‘no way.’" Then he opened the garage door.
Behind that door was a brand new Chevy truck.
A video of the big reveal was posted on the Inco Beverage Facebook page, and has been viewed thousands of times.
Balamuta says the surprise still doesn’t feel like reality.
“It took a couple days to register. And then when I took it to transfer the title, it registered. And when I took it home, it registered.
After going through a string of trucks in a short period of time, the vice president of the company, Joe Incardona, says the surprise couldn’t have come at a better time.
“My cousin knew how important it was to Greg to have a nice vehicle. And the fact that he gave his to his son was really the whole genesis of this thing. My cousin got Debbie his girlfriend on board. And she was in on this for months.”
It was Incardona’s grandfather who hired Balamuta 40 years ago.
“We want more Greg’s, people who are going to dedicate their livelihood to our mission,” said Incardona.
It a decision he says he doesn’t regret.
"I went to Mr. and Mrs. Incardona and said ‘I'll take the job,’ and she said 'OK, now you're family.' I never even discussed another job.”
